When developer Respawn revealed their plans for Apex Legends, they revealed they would be releasing the first content drop and Battle Pass in March. Well, today marks the start of Season 1 – Wild Frontier and it brings along a new Legend, Octane, as well as the aforementioned Battle Pass with over 100 items to earn that include Legend skins and banner cards.
New legend Octavia Silva, otherwise known as Octane, is looking for the ultimate adrenaline rush. While on a record-breaking gauntlet speed-run, he managed to blow off both of his legs, but that hasn't stopped him. Now equipped with metal legs, he's aiming to be an Apex Champion. His ability swaps health for a boost in speed. When coupled with his endless supply of Stim health regeneration, and an Ultimate Ability to use Launch Pads, he can tear around the arena easily. Octane will be available for all players.
The first Battle Pass wants to keep things simple so players can continue to learn how to play the game, including a bonus earned through playing a variety of characters. Every level that players unlock will unlock a reward. These include weapon skins, such as the "first ever three-stage evolving Legendary Havoc weapon skin"; banner frames and cards; Epic and Legendary Apex Packs; and XP boosts. All cosmetic rewards that are earned through the Pass will be exclusive to the season and will never be available again.
The Battle Pass can be purchased for 950 Apex Coins from the in-game store, and as soon as players purchase it, they'll get three Wild Frontier-themed Legend skins for immediate use — the Lifeline Revolutionary skin, the Wraith Survivor skin, and the Mirage Outlaw skin. If players complete the pass, they'll also earn 1,000 Apex Coins alongside the cosmetic rewards; this means players will have recouped the cost of the Battle Pass by the time they reach level 97. Like all games with a Battle Pass, there's also a Battle Pass Bundle where players can get the Pass and automatically unlock the first 25 levels, complete with rewards, for 2,800 Apex Coins.
Players don't have to purchase the Battle Pass to enjoy Season 1. All players who take part in the season will be able to earn a Wild Frontier Legend Skin, five Apex Packs, and 18 Wild Frontier Stat Trackers. Those who don't purchase the Pass immediately won't lose out either. A player's Battle Pass level is equivalent to their current season level, so when they purchase the Battle Pass, they'll retroactively unlock all of the rewards up to that level. If they buy the Battle Pass Bundle, they'll still unlock the additional 25 levels too. As an example, a level 20 player who buys the Battle Pass will unlock all rewards up to level 20. A level 20 player who buys the Battle Pass Bundle will unlock all rewards up to level 45.
Season 1 - Wild Frontier begins at 10:00AM Pacific today, March 19th.
