Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Apparently Won't Have Zombies or Battle Royale

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 may very well still be an exceptionally popular game, but that hasn't stopped people speculating about the next instalment in the franchise. Seeing as it's the turn of Infinity Ward to create the next title in the cycle, rumours are gathering pace that the title will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. While most are happy to leave it there for now, Gaming Intel, a site last seen leaking Apex Legends details, has gone a step further to cite a number of juicy details from a variety of sources about the upcoming game.

Firstly, the site states that the game won't have Zombies mode. Instead, the mode is going to be replaced with something more akin to the Survival mode in Modern Warfare 3 where enemies are AI soldiers instead of zombies. However, whereas Zombies mode now features a series of easter eggs for players to figure out, Survival was a basic wave-based horde mode at best, so it would need additional features like objectives, kill streaks, skills, or upgrades to keep players interested.

Secondly, the site claims there won't be a Battle Royale mode either. In fact, the game will likely bring back a single-player campaign to go with the Survival style mode and the standard Multiplayer modes.

In terms of Multiplayer, there won't be any specialist characters either, so no special abilities or overpowered weapons, and multiplayer will instead return to its roots. Infinity Ward is even supposed to be including maps and weapons from Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3. This will likely be because of the lack of multiplayer to be found in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, which is also yet to be officially announced despite leaks on ratings boards.

As always, these are rumours that need to be taken with a huge pinch of salt. As soon as we hear anything definite, we'll be sure to let you know.
