Activision has announced that they will be releasing Generator Rex: Agent of Providence, a game based on the Generator Rex cartoon series that has been aired on the Cartoon Network.
For those of you who live outside of North America, the cartoon series is set on Earth, five years after an explosion caused a high concentration of nanites to be released into the Earth's atmosphere. These nanites infected every living being on Earth, and cause the creature to mutate into an Exponentially Variegated Organism (E.V.O.) when they are activated. An organisation called Providence is set up to combat the threat posed by the E.V.O.s. Rex is an amnesiac teenager working for Providence, but although he has also been infected by nanites and is an E.V.O. himself, Rex can control the effects that they have on his body. As a result he can harness a variety of special powers and even cure other people who have turned into hideously mutated E.V.O.s.
In the upcoming game, players will take on the role of Rex as he tries to prevent Providence's arch enemies Van Kleiss and his minions from "gaining unprecedented powers that could destroy the earth!" You will have to fight through many different locations, such as "the depths of the jungle, the scorching deserts, and the heart of metropolitan cities". Along the way you will have to search for blueprints to enable you to create "bigger and better weapons to use in combat against the increasing power of the E.V.O.s".
Generator Rex: Agent of Providence is due to be released in October 2011.
