RAGE 2 Introduces More Cheats

By Rebecca Smith, 16 days ago
A couple of days ago, Bethesda revealed the He's On Fire cheat code for RAGE 2. The problem is they did it on April Fools' Day, and we weren't sure whether to take it seriously or not. It turns out we were supposed to take it seriously, because the publisher has now revealed their Cheats system and even more cheat codes for players to use to increase the level of insanity in the game.

As you may have guessed with all of the media that's been released for the game so far, the emphasis in RAGE 2 is firmly on having fun and causing mayhem. The game's Cheats system aims to allow players to add an even weirder touch to proceedings. We've already seen the He's on Fire cheat that adds voice actor Tim Kitzrow's commentary to the action, but the team has added a variety of other options for players:

  • He’s on Fire: Video game voiceover legend Tim Kitzrow lends his very familiar talents to RAGE 2 with the “He’s on Fire” Cheat. BOOMSHAKALAKA.
  • Git Gud: Sweet, sweet instagib. With “Git Gud” every enemy goes down in one hit. It’s not fair to your enemies, but f*** ‘em. You. Are. A. God.
  • Son of Thor: Much like the power Olivia Newton John is supplying in the hit film “Grease,” this Cheat is electrifying. When the “Son of Thor” Cheat is activated, the player becomes electric, electrocuting any enemies that get too close.
  • Klegg Support: The infamous (and douchey) Klegg Clayton is spawned as a friendly AI companion. We honestly don’t know if this is a reward or a punishment.
  • Phoenix Rejector Seat: Now this is just getting ridiculous. As opposed to the Phoenix’s Ejector Seat, which does what it says on the tin and ejects the player from the vehicle, the Rejector Seat leaves the player on the ground and ejects the Phoenix into the air. Like we said, ridiculous.
All players will have access to the Cheats, although players will need to find the Wasteland Wizard first — the mystical sage wanders the wasteland and sells cheats to players for in-game currency (no real money is needed). All of the cheats will be unlockable through the Wasteland Wizard, but players who purchase the Deluxe Edition will automatically get three cheats before they find the Wizard, and anybody who pre-orders the game will automatically receive the He's on Fire cheat. If you want to find the Wizard, just look for the balloons:

The publisher promises more Cheats will be added to the game "on a rotating basis" once it has launched on May 14th, so keep your eyes open for those post-launch updates.

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the RAGE 2 achievements.
