Squads Are Coming To Crackdown 3: Wrecking Zone

By James Kearle, 16 days ago
After years of delays, Crackdown 3: Wrecking Zone finally released alongside its campaign counterpart Crackdown 3: Campaign back in February. Upon its eventual release, the multiplayer component in particular failed to live up to expectations. Despite having moments of fun, the game was criticized in our official review for being a largely bare-bones experience. However, Sumo Digital is looking to make amends, and are soon adding in a much-requested feature omitted from its initial release – the ability to match-make with friends in a squad.

Crackdown 3: Wrecking Zone

In a recent Xbox wire post, it has been confirmed that squads will be coming to Crackdown 3: Wrecking Zone soon. To ensure the addition runs smoothly, a brief playtest will be open to all Xbox Insiders (regardless of participation in previous technical playtests) on Thursday, April 11th from 11:00 – 12:30 PST / 19:00 – 20:30 BST (or regional equivalent). The limited playtime allocated to the playtest is designed to "maximize the number of players matchmaking on servers at the same time" before it is officially rolled out in its full capacity.

For those interested in signing up for the playtest, this is what you need to do:

For participants of previous technical playests

Step 1

Launch the Xbox Insider Hub.

Step 2

Navigate to Insider content > Games > Wrecking Zone Technical Test.

Step 3

Select “See in Store” and install or launch Wrecking Zone from the Store page

For new participants

Step 1

On your Xbox One console or Windows 10 PC, sign in and launch the Xbox Insider Hub app

Step 2

Navigate to Insider content > Games > Wrecking Zone Technical Test.
