Believe it or not, Burnout Paradise was released 11 years ago. While there hasn't been a new instalment in the franchise since, the game was remastered for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It's likely to be for the latter reason that the servers for the Xbox 360 version of the game have been confirmed for closure in August.
Once the game's servers go offline, players will be able to play all single player and offline modes for the game, and the game's offline DLC. However, none of the online multiplayer modes will be available. This means that some of the game's achievements will become discontinued on August 1st, when the servers are closed. The full list of achievements that will be affected is below:
Cops & Robbers DLC
The Golden achievement in Burnout Paradise worth 72 pointsAwarded for delivering the Gold to your team base in a Cops and Robbers game on Xbox LIVE
Big Surf Island DLC
The People Person achievement in Burnout Paradise worth 69 pointsAwarded when you complete all 10 Island Freeburn Challenges. These can be completed by 2 - 8 players
Players were notified of the server closure through e-mail. You can read the full e-mail below if you haven't received one yourself:
Hello, burnout fans! The Xbox 360 version of the game has already been delisted from the Microsoft Store, disappearing in January last year. If you already own the game, or manage to find a disc copy at a retailer nearby, make sure you get all of the online achievements completed before the servers close on August 1st. The Xbox One version of the game is unaffected and the servers will remain open on that platform.
It was great fun to race with you through Paradise City since 2008. We would like to thank you for spending time exploring the city, doing cool stunts and shattering billboards and racing together. Now that we have been entertaining you on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC for 10 years, we now have to tell you with a heavy heart that we will officially shut down the servers from August 1, 2019. Of course, you can still play the game offline on the usual platforms, including all extra content (such as Big Surf Island), if you have downloaded them.
If you want to experience Paradise City again in 4K and from the beginning with all premium DLCs (including Big Surf Island - for the first time on PC), you can find Burnout Paradise Remastered in the stores for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Origin.
Thank you for your many years of support!
