Mortal Kombat 11 Patch To Address Towers Of Time And Reward Difficulty

By James Kearle, 1 month ago
Since Mortal Kombat 11's release earlier this week, many fans will have enjoyed progressing through the story, hearing the distinct sound of a fatality chime, and ripping their foes apart in the most brutal ways imaginable. However, a decent amount of criticism has been aimed towards the extreme difficulty of the Towers of Time mode, as well as the frugality of subsequent Krypt rewards. Fortunately, it would appear that NetherRealm also recognizes these issues, with Tayler Lansdown (Community Manager) and Derek Kirtzic (Senior System Designer) confirming in this week's Kombat Kast that they are actively working on various fixes to solve these problems.

The video update confirmed that certain fixes pertaining to the difficulty of Towers of Time have already been implemented through immediate server-side changes. The first of said changes is the dramatic reduction in the maximum health of AI opponents. Kirtzic explains that whereas a "standard" opponent's health is typically 1000, the health of the most powerful AI is now roughly 1500; on the launch, this number was a whopping 4000. Additionally, the frequency of damaging modifiers will occur "far less" often, with an approximate window of 10 seconds as opposed to 4 seconds.

Further to the above, NetherRealm will also be releasing a downloadable patch to address certain issues the team was unable to fix through the server-side updates, including increased currency rewards, tweaks to make currently unblockable modifiers blockable, and more. No official date has been given, but it has been ensured that the patch will be available by the start of next week at the very latest.
