Last month, Mojang made a US$10,000 dollar donation to charity:water, a charity that aims to bring clean drinking water to everybody around the world, on behalf of Minecraft. This month, they aimed to expand on that donation by creating a free "The Travelling Trader" map and skin pack for players to download. If players downloaded the content 100,000 times between them, the developer would make another donation to the charity. Well, the community rose to the challenge and smashed through that target in less than 24 hours, but if you feel like doing your bit to help, the free content continues to be available from the Minecraft Marketplace.
"The Travelling Trader" is a creation by Jigarbov Productions. To fit in with the charity's mission, players are tasked with trading, exploring, and helping the villagers to build a well to provide fresh drinking water. Players will also get two new llama skins as part of the skin pack. Players on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Windows 10, iOS, and Android can all download the content, which is available from the in-game Minecraft Marketplace. Alternatively, Windows 10 and mobile players can download the content from here.
Now that the free content has been downloaded more than 100,000 times, Mojang has made another US$90,000 donation to the charity, bringing their total donation to US$100,000. This money will fund ten water projects and the charity estimates that more than 3,300 people will benefit from these projects.
