Celebrate Cinco De Mayo with Halo: The Master Chief Collection

By Rebecca Smith,
May 5th may not immediately spring to mind as a special day to most people, but for citizens of Mexico, Cinco de Mayo is the day they celebrate the victory of the Mexican Army over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862. The occasion is also celebrated in Halo: The Master Chief Collection where players can make progress towards a date specific achievement.

You'll want to enter Halo 3's Valhalla map in Forge mode, in a custom game or in multiplayer matchmaking. Here you can view the "Toady Was Live!" sigil and you can cross off one of the two different sigils needed for the following achievement:

Halo: The Master Chief CollectionElder SignsThe Elder Signs achievement in Halo: The Master Chief Collection worth 40 pointsHalo 3: View 2 different sigils on Valhalla.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection (CN)Elder SignsThe Elder Signs achievement in Halo: The Master Chief Collection (CN) worth 33 pointsHalo 3: View 2 different sigils on Valhalla.

There's one more achievement reminder to come for May. We'll be sure to remind you about this nearer the time. You can either keep your eyes peeled to TA's front page for those articles, or subscribe to the Achievement Reminders news category to receive PMs or e-mails every time we remind you about impending achievements.

We've got the full list of Halo: The Master Chief Collection achievements - check the list for guides to unlocking them.

This game was featured in our Best Xbox One First-Person Shooters Available in 2019 article. Why not check it out to see what else made the cut?

Thank you for taking the time to write these up and post these reminders every year. I already have it, as do probably most, but the dedication is admirable to the site and any potential new or late users of the game.

Always thought TA should make an Achievement colander for things like this. Basically include any game that has a time sensitive achievement, include time based ones (like play the game at 11 pm), so have it like the Session calendar.

If it’s a lot of work it might not be worth it since not a lot of games have these date/time related achievements. Either way I think it’s a brilliant idea. You could get a notification the day before or something.

So it could drain solid achievements of their water?

It was defenitely in March.. 31st to be exact. Mothers day/mothering Sunday whatever you want to call it. As its usually around Easter.

But I have googled and it spears the Americans have a different mothers day, which is in May which explains the confusion.

3 Sundays before Easter to be exact.

But they are two different things: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mothering_Sunday

Mothering Sunday is a holiday celebrated by Christians in the United Kingdom, Ireland and some other Anglophone countries.

It is increasingly being called Mother's Day, although that name properly belongs to the American secular holiday which is quite distinct from the original Mothering Sunday.

Oh god.. Spent ages trying to get this to unlock last night and gave up. Just realised I was looking at the achievement for the CN version of the game. Which I don't have.
