Deathsmiles 2X Launching on Games on Demand

By Michelle Balsan, 8 years ago
Cave announced today that the sequel to the shoot em 'up title Deathsmiles, Deathsmiles II X, will be launching in the North American region on Games on Demand, thus skipping a disc release. This release marks the first time that the Games on Demand service has been used in this way.

Cave is directly porting the Japanese version of the game for the release, so the title will not be translated. According to Cave, this is part of a strategy to get "some of our Japan-only shooters released overseas".

For reasons not fully explained, Microsoft Points cannot be used for this purchase, so you have to have a credit or debit card handy.

Edit: Microsoft has since confirmed to Joystiq that Microsoft Points CAN be used for purchasing this title.

Deathsmiles 2X will be released on Games on Demand in North America on May 17th and will cost $30.
