Starting life in arcades as simply Monkey Ball, the Super Monkey Ball series charmed console players in the 00s before mostly finding success on portable platforms until the series the release of Super Monkey Ball Bounce in 2014, after which the series has remained dormant. Well, as noticed by piercesword on Twitter via Gematsu, the series looks set to wake from its slumber as SEGA Games have trademarked a new title in Japan, "Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball". No prizes for recognising Super Monkey Ball but Tabegoro can mean 'good to eat', 'ripe' or 'in season' with the latter two fitting in particularly well with the bananas that play a large part in the series.
Of course, trademarks don't guarantee that a title is on the way — and even if it is, it may not necessarily come to consoles given the series' most recent history — but with a new trademark for a series that has remained dormant, we hope Super Monkey Ball will be back in season soon.
