Xbox Gameplay Chart: Week Ending May 12th, 2019

By Rebecca Smith, 8 days ago
The month of May has some notable retail releases coming up, but the week just gone was relatively quiet. The result is a chart that still sees Fortnite and Apex Legends battling at the top of the chart, while the rest of the top 40 holds relatively firm with just small movements in either direction. You can take a look for yourself in the top 40 most played games in the Gameplay Chart below:

We'll start at the top, where Fortnite holds the #1 spot again. The lead the game has over Apex Legends in #2 is surely unbeatable at this point — Fortnite has nearly three times the number of gamers who are playing Apex Legends. In fact, the gap between #2 and Minecraft in #3 is far smaller and it is here where change is most likely to happen.

The are a few significant climbers this week. The Ghost Recon Wildlands free event sees the game climb four spots to #22, while Call of Duty: Black Ops III climbs six spots to #26 thanks to its unending popularity. Black Desert climbs a significant number of spots to re-enter the top 40 at #33, all thanks to its inclusion in Xbox Game Pass. Meanwhile, Warframe inches back into the top 40 at #39 after narrowly missing out on a spot in the chart last week. There are no significant drops for this week.

In terms of notable omissions, there were no new retail titles to be missed and it was up to Xbox Game Pass to make its dent on the charts. New addition Descenders narrowly missed out on a place in the chart, as did last week's addition Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, but there was no sign of Surviving Mars, Tacoma, or For The King. Next week sees the release of LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and The Surge onto the programme; will we see either of those?

Next week has the potential to be quite different. RAGE 2, Sniper Elite V2 Remastered, and A Plague Tale: Innocence are all hitting stores — we'll certainly be surprised if Bethesda's new title doesn't make an appearance. There's also a new Games with Gold in the form of The Golf Club 2019.
