Metro Exodus Story-Driven DLC Begins This Summer

By Rebecca Smith,
Metro Exodus' Expansion Pass was revealed long before the game was released, but aside from telling us that we could "discover new adventures in the post-apocalyptic Russian wilderness", we knew nothing else about what to expect. That's all changed today as publisher Deep Silver has revealed two "major" pieces of story-driven DLC that will expand upon the game's story through the eyes of two different characters. Suffice to say, if you have not yet completed the game's campaign, the following DLC descriptions contain spoilers.

Expansion Pass

The first story expansion is called "The Two Colonels" and it's a linear chapter. Players will assume the role of Colonel Khlebnikov, a brand new character, as he tries to make his way home from under the surface of the abandoned city of Novosibirsk. The problem is that the city's tunnels are succumbing to the slime and increased mutant attacks. The "green stuff" that protects survivors from radiation poisoning is running out, so Khlebnikov decides to join his son, Kirill, at home for New Year's Eve. The DLC chapter will include a new flame-thrower weapon and tightly-packed environments. "The Two Colonels" will arrive this summer.

The second story expansion has been dubbed "Sam’s Story" and this takes the form of a sandbox survival level. Unsurprisingly, the DLC follows the story of American Spartan Ranger Sam. A former US Marine who was based at the Moscow embassy, he wishes to return to his home country. When the Spartans realise Moscow wasn't the only city to survive the ravages of war, he vows to find his way back to the US. This means travelling through Vladivostok’s ruined harbours and the derelict industrial buildings that surround them, as well as the abandoned residential districts that hide their own dangers. This DLC will arrive early next year.

Both of the story expansions are included in the game's Expansion Pass, but they can also be purchased separately for an unknown cost. If you feel like grabbing hold of the Expansion Pass now that you know what's in it, you can do so below:

The Metro Exodus Expansion Pass will contain two major pieces of story-driven DLC for the game, following brand new stories from the world of Metro. Instead of Artyom, players will have the chance to see through the eyes of a brand new character and of one of the Spartan Rangers, the Aurora’s only American, Sam.
