Codemasters has announced that GRID, the fourth release in its GRID series, will be racing on the Xbox One this September.
Five years after the last release in the series, Codemasters is bringing back the fan favourite racer, and GRID promises to bring intense wheel to wheel action across a range of racing disciplines which include GT, Touring, Stock, Muscle, Super-Modified and more. The game will also feature a variety of different race types such as Circuit, Street Racing, Ovals, Hot Laps, Point-to-Point and World Time Attack events that will take place on famous roads and racing circuits from four different continents.
Adding to Codemasters proven pedigree for producing top-notch racing titles, the developer has also enlisted the help of one of racing's biggest names, with Fernando Alonso signing up to work as a Race Consultant on the game, who described GRID as "the perfect game for me". The racing legend will also appear in the game, with players taking part in a series of events against some of Alonso's Esports driving team called "FA Racing", across multiple different race types, before facing off against the former World Champion in his Renault R26 Formula One car.
Chris Smith, GRID Game Director at Codemasters had this to say:
GRID as a racing franchise is revered by our community and we are delighted to bring it to the current generation of consoles. The game offers so much variety and depth, from the number of modern and classic cars through to the locations and race options. Renowned for its handling, the game will appeal to all types of player, from casual drivers who want a lean-in challenge, to sim drivers who want some serious fun.
We are also delighted to work alongside Fernando Alonso who is arguably one of the world’s greatest ever drivers. His experience and knowledge has enabled us to make improvements to both the performance and handling of our cars. We could not be more proud to have signed him both in-game and as a Race Consultant. We can’t wait for our players to experience the final version when it comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this September.
