Now that Red Dead Redemption 2's Online mode has left beta, it seems like we're getting better content updates every week than we'd had before. As well as a new Care Package that brings a range of free goodies for players, this week introduces a new Free Roam Event, a new Showdown mode, new clothing, bonus cash and gold opportunities, and another free gift for those who set up 2-Step Verification.
The new Care Package includes five Potent Miracle Tonics, five Potent Snake Oils, five Potent Health Cures, five Potent Bitters, and 120 Express Revolver Ammo. The package can be retrieved from your Camp Lockbox or Post Office for free. Speaking of free gifts, those players who have already set up 2-Step Verification on their Rockstar Social Club account, or who set it up this week, will get the exclusive Raccoon Hat. For setting up 2-Step Verification for the first time, you'll also get 10 Gold Bars, and if you play Grand Theft Auto V, you'll get GTA$500,000 to use in that game's GTA Online mode too. You can set up 2-Step Verification here.
The new Free Roam Event, the Wild Animal Kills Challenge, asks players to become the ultimate hunter. The bigger the animal, the more points you get. Large animals will net three points, but small animals will only earn a single point. As time goes on, there will be bonus points available for those who take on more dangerous predators like wolves, cougars, and bears. Other players don't count, though; offensive attacks on players have been disabled for the event so there'll be no points for hunting down fellow players and you'll need to try out another mode for that... like the new Showdown Mode.
Head for the Hills is that aforementioned Showdown Mode. Players must dash across no-man's-land to reach their safe house while their opponents try to hunt them down. This new mode is the first of three new modes that are heading to the game — the next couple of weeks will also see the arrival of Public Enemy and Sport of Kings modes.
Bonus cash and gold opportunities come from select A Land of Opportunities missions. New players get an extra RDO$50 when they complete the first of those missions, "Honor Among Horse Thieves". "Kill Them, Each and Every One" carries a bonus RDO$75 upon completion, while "Destroyed by Grief" will reward a bonus 10 Gold Bars.
Finally, new clothing has been added to the Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalogue, including the Flora Corseted Chemise, Paddon Shirt tops, Plaid Cap, Racoon Hat and Shaffer Chaps. There's even a new emote in the form of "How Dare You".
The update is available now.
