Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Gameplay Shows Off Some Brand New Force Moves

By Ethan Anderson,
EA Play kicked off with the first ever look at gameplay for the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The gameplay reveal showed off lightsaber combat and various Force techniques on the Wookie planet, Kashyyyk. Along with the combat, the reveal also showcases some Force-assisted traversal, and some of the uses for Cal's droid companion. There's even a brand new force move — Slow. This enables Cal to slow time and manipulate objects and characters to his advantage. In one impressive moment, Cal manages to slow time enough to force-pull and incapacitate a stormtrooper with his own blaster shot. Although the video looks like it's full of scripted single-button finishers.

Cal's droid is called BD-1, short for Buddy One — as clear a sign that this is a game from Titanfall developers as the wall-running that frequently crops up in the demo. The explorer droid can pick up environmental storytelling cues to flesh out the lore of the game — this is a canonical adventure after all, with Rogue One characters turning up in Cal's story. The droid will also provide healing and logistical support, such as powering machinery and unlocking doors.
