Final Fantasy VIII is Finally Getting a Remaster

By Kevin Tavore, 7 days ago
In recent years, Square Enix has been very busy porting and remastering pretty much every Final Fantasy under the sun. Recently, even the Xbox was bombarded with a downpour of Final Fantasy remasters, from the famous VII to the cult classic IX to the infamous XII. It seemed everyone would have it all, but one thing was missing — Final Fantasy VIII. The eight entry is typically met with adoration or repulsion in best of lists, and nearly everyone agrees that it's time to settle on its quality once and for all in the modern age. Yet the game was absent until today.

Final Fantasy VIII is receiving the remaster treatment. The E3 trailer showcases dolled up visuals and cutscenes that maintain the classic 4:3 ratio, which is pretty much what the doctor ordered. We don't have an exact release date, but the trailer promises 2019 so there won't be long to wait.

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Final Fantasy VIII achievements.
