One of the stars of Microsoft's Xbox E3 2019 Briefing was Project Scarlett, their next generation console that they hope will set a "new bar for console power, speed and performance". We heard about the technology that will sit inside its case, and Phil Spencer has since confirmed the console will have a disc drive. The latter will be important because of the latest piece of console information to arrive — players will be able to use their gaming accessories, profiles, and "thousands" of games with Project Scarlett.
While the ability to carry Gamertags over to the new console will be of no surprise to players, they may be more surprised to find that accessories like the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 will carry over. The console will also be backwards compatible, as the thousands of games will be from all four generations of Xbox console, and they will "look and play best" on the new console.
Project Scarlett will be arriving in the holiday 2020 season. You can find the rest of the E3 news in our handy E3 hub.
