It's no secret that Japanese publisher Konami have very much slowed down when it comes to console games, but one constant has been the Pro Evolution Soccer series. Don't worry the series is still here, but it has undergone a small name change — nothing new for the series that has been Goal Storm and ISS Pro before Pro Evolution Soccer — with this year's edition called eFootball PES 2020.
As you can probably tell by the box art above, Konami are continuing to make use of their recently renewed partnership with Barcelona. Everything they've shown about the upcoming game so far links back the Catalan club, whether that's current players like Messi, relatively recent legends like Ronaldinho and Iniesta and even the likes of Diego Maradona and Johan Cruyff showing up in the game's "remastered" Master League mode. Here's a few screenshots.
Screenshots are all well and good, but of course, players will want to see how the game looks in action. Fortunately in that regard, Konami have provided a nearly four minute long trailer that shows off the beautiful game as well as showing as pointing out what's new and improved with this year's edition.
You may have noticed Iniesta popping up a couple of times during that trailer. Well, the legendary playmaker — who now plies his trade in Japan at Vissel Kobe — was actually the gameplay advisor for PES 2020. After trying out an earlier build of the game, Iniesta then provided feedback which led to the creation of a new feature: the Finesse Dribble. You can hear from the man himself, both during the earlier process and after Konami had implemented his feedback, in the video below.
All that remains is to tell you the release date. eFootball PES 2020 kicks it off all over again on Septemer 10th in the Americas and Europe, and September 12th in Asia.
We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the eFootball PES 2020 achievements.
