Have you been wondering where the Great TrueAchievements Score Challenge has gotten to? Well, it's back very soon! What's more, the 2019 GTASC comes with a big change: This time, your TA Score Difference (TrueAchievement score minus Gamerscore) will be the deciding factor between progression and elimination! Plus, if you make it to the tenth period of the Individual contest, you can get yourself a Community Challenge Badge!
When is GTASC 2019 starting and finishing? As usual, GTASC is still going to run for 48 weeks, just not January to December. GTASC 2019 is starting on Monday, July 1st, 2019 at 1pm UTC and will end on June 1st, 2020 at 1pm UTC.
What are the requirements for participating in GTASC 2019?
- Have an Xbox LIVE Gamertag with at least 10,000 GamerScore.
- Have a TrueAchievements account in good standing for a minimum of six months.
- Register via the GTASC 2019 Contest Hub to enter the event.
How does scoring work? When you unlock achievements and they are scanned into TrueAchievements, both your Gamerscore and TrueAchievement score are recalculated and rise based on the new achievements earned. You will notice that your TrueAchievement score changes from day to day even if you don't unlock any achievements.
Traditionally, GTASC scoring has been based purely on the TrueAchievement score gained or lost during the period. This meant that simply playing easy games could be enough to keep you in the contest for a long time.
This year however, GTASC scoring is based only on your TA Score Difference for the period - the difference between your TrueAchievement score and Gamerscore earned during that time. So, easy achievements — those with a low ratio — will be worth very little score.
New games (and DLC) often have TA scores that inflate rapidly and then slowly drop down as more and more gamers complete them. This needs to be taken into consideration when choosing which games to play and when. Also, any achievements unlocked while disconnected from LIVE will not count toward your score. You can play however and whenever you wish, but to keep a level playing field we are only counting achievements won while online in the contest.
For each scoring period, all scores reset at 1 PM UTC Monday, which is usually 8 AM US Eastern Monday morning. At that time, the teams and individuals with the smallest TA Difference over the week will be removed from the competition. It is up to each team or individual to keep themselves above the bar at the end of the period. Any teams or individuals below that bar will be eliminated from the competition at the end of the period will not enter into the next.
Are there team and individual events in this year's GTASC 2019?The Team Event returns with 3-person teams. Grab two friends or simply register and be assigned to a randomly generated team when registration closes.
Individuals can also register for the individual event. If you reach the tenth period of the contest as an individual, you will get a Community Challenge Badge.
As was the case last year, registration for the Team contest does not enter you into the Individual contest — if you want to play in both contests, you need to register separately for both.
How do I participate in GTASC 2019?If you are looking to participate only in the solo event, simply registering for that event will throw your hat into the ring.
If you are looking to participate as a team, one member will take on the role of Captain for the purposes of recruiting a teammate. Team captains create a team on the Hub Page and invite their fellow teammate. Teammates are sent a PM and can join the team via that message.
If you don't have a friend that wishes to enter the contest, you can still join one of our randomly created two-person teams.

GTASC 2019 starts on Monday July 1st at 1PM UTC. Registration is open now and closes at 11:59 PM on Friday, June 28th.
