Red Dead Online Update Adds Early Access Content to Xbox One

By Rebecca Smith,
The PlayStation 4 Early Access programme allows Red Dead Redemption 2 to get exclusive use of Red Dead Online content before it arrives on other platforms. That exclusivity period expired on several features this week, meaning Xbox One players now have access to new Showdown Modes, weapon, horse, clothing, and equipment.

Ancient Tomahawk

Last Stand is a free-for-all Showdown Mode that makes its debut on Xbox One this week. Players compete to be the last man standing in two minute rounds where there's no exit and no second chances. The second mode arrives alongside a new weapon. The Ancient Tomahawk can be acquired from any of the five Fence locations in Saint Denis, Rhodes, Emerald Ranch, Van Horn, or Thieves Landing. It can then be used in the Make it Count: Ancient Tomahawk Showdown Mode, which is part of the Elimination series. Other previously exclusive content includes the Perlino Andalusian Horse, Belanger Saddle, Finley Jacket, Stenger Studded Spurs, Caldwell Hat, and two new emotes: Boast and Hey, You.

XP bonuses can be found across all equipped Ability Cards, regardless of whether they are Dead Eye cards or Passive cards. They'll give players a 20% XP bonus all week. Meanwhile, players can get a 25% discount on Special Saddles at Stables, giving additional perks like slower Core depletion and better regen rates. Some items have also had their unlock requirements relaxed. Any Horses that were locked to players at Rank 41 or above will now unlock at Rank 40, while any hats that couldn't be unlocked until Rank 30 or above can now be unlocked at Rank 10.

The Common Flat Cap and the Horsfall Overshirt have arrived at local tailors across the game. The Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalogue also has new limited time garments, such as the Griffith Chaps, Charro Jacket, Clymene Coat, and Vaquero Baroque Spurs.

All of the new content and bonuses are available now.
