SkyDrift Announced for XBLA

Developer and publisher Digital Reality is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Having only added a new digital publishing arm to the business recently despite their name, the "action-driven arcade air racing game" SkyDrift will be one of their first releases on Xbox LIVE Arcade.

Players will race planes against deadly opponents across "dynamic terrains and incredible vistas", including locations like a desert canyon, tropical islands, and arctic glaciers. These locations can provide their own unique hazards for players to avoid, such as volcanic lava flows and falling rocks.

There will be eight "state-of-the-art" planes for players to customize with over 30 unique racing skins, ranging from "military camouflage war paint for hiding, to the most shiny and colorful ones for domination". Six different offensive and defensive power ups will help players gain the edge over their opponents. If you can't overtake your opponent, all you need to do is just simply shoot them down.

The game includes single player modes such as Survival and SpeedRace, although details on each of these have yet to be announced. Multiplayer is enabled for up to eight players, and you can fight for high scores in the leaderboards for the challenges.
