Magic: DotP 2012 Release Date Confirmed

The excitement for Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 has been building amongst you for some time, especially when we revealed a full card list for the first deck three days ago. A rumoured release date was mentioned in the thread for that article, and I can confirm that Steam was indeed correct; the game will be launching on XBLA on June 15th.

The first opponent that players will encounter is a new Planeswalker, Kiora Atua, who is an exclusive addition to Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012. Wizards of the Coast has released a few more details about her below:

Kiora Atua is a beautiful female merfolk who commands the powers of the tides and depths. She is outwardly calm and collected but has an intense, wild look in her eye. Kiora venerates the huge, ancient creatures of the sea - krakens, leviathans, and other denizens of the deep - because for her they are evidence that even the most persistent forces can be endured: time, water, and predation. Kiora seems calm and wise, but her dreams are dark and bizarre beyond imagining.
Finally, we get to meet another Planeswalker, Gideon Jura, who was once an agent of the mysterious Order of Heliud. He was introduced to the Magic card game in the Rise of the Eldrazi expansion pack. Here we get a quick overview of his life so far:

My name is Gideon and I'm about to die. I was born into a world long since destroyed. Some say I played a hand in its destruction; less charitable voices say I was the sole cause of its demise. I cared little at the time, as I was blinded by my own self-righteous fury, but then a reckoning came upon me.

I found others who could travel between worlds, whose beliefs conflicted with my own. I was humbled by their power and tempered by their convictions. I resolved to learn from my opponents. I would do better, be better, and fight the very kind of tyrant I had become. For years I stood alone in countless battles; I won every time... until now.

I've given my all and it wasn't enough, but I have a plan. I've done the one thing my opponent could never do. I've made allies out of enemies.
A price is yet to be confirmed for the game.
