Stardew Valley Multiplayer to Arrive On Consoles in "A Couple of Weeks"

By Sam Quirke,
It's been a full year since we last reported on Stardew Valley's multiplayer coming to consoles, and even then it was just a stop-gap explaining the delay. Now, finally, we seem to be close to launch. It's hard to blame sole developer Eric Barone, AKA ConcernedApe for the delay. After building the game on their own and eventually finding a publisher, they switched back to self-publishing Stardew Valley at the end of 2018. They also appear to be one of the nicest developers around in an industry full of nice developers — in their latest update, they've offered to personally answer any questions and seem to be doing just that:

The certification process is definitely on the final stretch of update development, provided that Xbox and PlayStation fail to find any serious issues. In a later response to one of the many questions, ConcernedApe estimated a "couple of weeks" before the multiplayer would finally launch on consoles.

Remember, this is online multiplayer only — as the lone developer mentions in the thread, it'd be quite a challenge to add split-screen or local play into the game thanks to the way it has been coded, though it's something they're interested in investigating.

Our main question, of course, is whether there will be any additional achievements on the Xbox One version of the game. So, naturally, we've thrown our question in with the rest. We'll let you know if we get an answer.

We've got the full list of Stardew Valley achievements - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
