Gears 5 Versus Technical Test Goes Live Next Week For All Xbox Game Pass Players

By Sam Quirke, 11 days ago
Gears 5 Versus is getting a Technical Test ahead of release, and rather than being reserved as a pre-order bonus the developers have decided to open the Test up to all Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

Gears 5 Versus Technical Test

The Technical Test will include Escalation, Arcade and King of the Hill multiplayer modes, so players will get a broad variety of gameplay types to try out. There will also be a handy training area called Bootcamp so that players can get back into the Gears groove and try out new mechanics. Also included is a short Tour of Duty which can be completed to earn a Tech Test Banner for use in the final game, along with three weapon skins.

The Tech Test will be available to download from July 17th, with online play opening up on July 19th at 10:00am PDT. This first Tech Test run closes on July 21st, but will open back up again between July 26th and July 29th. Those who have pre-ordered the game, along with Xbox Game Pass subscribers, will see the Tech Test available to download in their libraries. Xbox Game Pass for PC subscribers will get access to the Test on PC too. As always, the actual play experience should be considered unrepresentative of the final product; the point of the tech test is to stress the servers, after all, so expect to find a few queues in matchmaking.

These are the recommended minimum specs for the Tech Test on PC:
