Xbox Gameplay Chart: Warframe and Shadow of War Make a Move

By Sam Quirke, 1 month ago
Our latest Xbox Gameplay Chart shows games grinding to a standstill like summer vacation traffic. A couple of older titles are taking advantage, seeing surges in gameplay numbers thanks to Game Pass and exciting updates.

Warframe is still enjoying a resurgence and has even skipped up the charts — more than any other game — thanks to an exciting Tennocon 2019 where some significant updates have been announced. Most excitingly, Warframe's development team are adding on-foot capabilities to space combat. Players will be able to get around their ship during space flight while someone else is piloting, and even jump out of their own ship and onto another in a daring act of space piracy. All of these elements are being added in the Empyrean update, which isn't even out that — but between this news and a recent patch it has been enough to stoke extra interest in this popular sci-fi MMO. It's free if you want to try it yourself. While it's a significant completion, it's perhaps not as daunting a ratio as most major MMOs: check out Geoffistopheles' Warframe walkthrough for more details on how best to tackle it.

The only other significant mover this week is Middle Earth: Shadow of War, which makes its first entry into our chart since we started running it. This much-maligned game is actually fairly well regarded by those who gave it enough of a chance to play it, and now that there's no micro-transactions whatsoever in it, more people are likely to try it. Especially now — it has just recently been added to the ever-shifting catalogue of Xbox Game Pass games. A word of warning if achievement hunters are jumping in though — achievements are pretty temperamental, if not completely bugged out. The Trolling achievement, for example, sounds much harder to stitch together than it should if our community guides are anything to go by.

Other than these two movers, the Xbox world's most played games are mostly scrapping for single steps on the great gaming ladder. Have you taken a dive into any of these games this week? Which of the titans throttling the top of the league will be the first to drop? Let us know in the comments!
