The Gears 5 Technical Test is now available for all Xbox Game Pass owners as well as those who have pre-ordered the game. The Technical Test gives players a chance to try Versus mode before launch.

What is the install size of the Gears 5 Technical Test?

We're currently downloading the Test via Xbox Game Pass for PC and can confirm that the download will set you back 14.5GB on that platform. The Xbox One version is a little smaller at 12.42GB

What is included in the Gears 5 Technical Test?

The Technical Test will include Escalation, Arcade and King of the Hill multiplayer modes, so players will get a broad variety of gameplay types to try out. There will also be a handy training area called Bootcamp so that players can get back into the Gears groove and try out new mechanics. Also included is a short Tour of Duty which can be completed to earn a Tech Test Banner for use in the final game, along with three weapon skins.

When Does the Gears 5 Technical Test Start and End?

The Tech Test will be available to download from July 17th, with online play opening up on July 19th at 10:00am PDT. This first Tech Test run closes on July 21st, but will open back up again between July 26th and July 29th.
