Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Multiplayer Beta and Trailer Revealed

By Heidi Nicholas, 2 months ago
The release of Activision's highly anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is only a few months away. The multiplayer reveal took place yesterday, starting with a trailer:

Modern Warfare will have "the most weapon choices in Call of Duty history", and the trailer certainly showcases a variety of weapons, along with a glimpse of the new maps. A gameplay livestream took place after the reveal of the multiplayer trailer, which revealed more details about the new 2-on-2 Gunfight mode— a series of fast-paced rounds taking place on smaller-scale maps. Apparently there will be daytime and night-time versions of the maps available to increase variety and change up player strategies.

Players will be able to check out this impressive arsenal of weapons for themselves in an Open Beta; series fans will get exclusive early access to it provided they pre-order the game. According to the Modern Warfare Beta FAQ, the Xbox Beta will begin at some point after September 14th — as PS4 players are getting earlier access. All players who get early access from pre-orders, regardless of platform, should have access from the 12th. The minimum Beta period is two days but we wouldn't be surprised if it ran longer.

Modern Warfare is less of a remake than a complete re-imagining; apparently it will be "familiar but fresh" with a real focus on "authenticity". The game has already stirred up a little controversy thanks to its proposed killstreaks including white phosphorus, though we're still yet to get a clear picture on how this new Modern Warfare will allegedly take the series in a more mature direction.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release on October 25th this year, and is available now for pre-order.

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare achievements.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
