Solid Snake Voice Actor Isn't Happy with the Evo 2019's Tekken "Joke"

The organisers behind the major esports event have found themselves in trouble with legendary Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter, for using his voice without authorisation.

At this years Evo 2019 during the Tekken 7 Grand Finals, a short codec messaged appeared on-screen showing Snake speaking to Tekken Producer Katsuhiro Harada and saying, "That was some good ass Tekken." Although it wasn't shown on the official live stream, people in the crowd captured the moment and uploaded clips to various social media sites, including the above video by YouTuber Hippo.

This led to the internet becoming awash with rumours that Solid Snake was coming to Tekken, but alas, fans of both series were left in the dark until Evo confirmed that it was just a joke and that they didn't "intend to imply a character reveal."

However, the use of David Hayter's voice didn't go down to well with the voice acting veteran:

Hayter followed up that he is happy to record private cameos, but it wasn't okay for people to use his voice for the promotion of other properties. Instead of Snake, Tekken 7 players will have to look forward to Zafina and Leroy in Season 3.
