DuckTales Remastered Joins Ranks Of Delisted Digital Games

By Heidi Nicholas,
DuckTales Remastered is getting delisted. The game will no longer be available for digital purchase as of tomorrow, August 8th. Capcom announced the news via their blog and Twitter:

Bolt, also owned by Disney, was relisted a week after being delisted, suggesting a licencing issue. It could be that licencing is also the obstacle with DuckTales, though the chances of it coming back are slim given Capcom's official statement on the matter. DuckTales did get a solid Metascore of 70 on Metacritic so naturally some are upset to see it disappear, but the real upset seems to be more with the practice of delisting in general. There are some benefits to digital purchases, with games like Jurassic World: Evolution getting released three weeks earlier than its physical counterpart. On the other hand, there's the detachment of ownership which comes with digital copies as well as concerns that a delisted game could be lost to time.

Capcom hastened to remind players that DuckTales can still be re-downloaded after the game's removal if the digital version had already been purchased. Physical discs of the game can obviously also still be found elsewhere, so players can still play DuckTales Remastered. The times for the game's delisting are as follows:

Xbox 360, Xbox One (via Backwards Compatibility) – August 8, 5 PM PDT
PlayStation 3 – August 9, 8AM PDT
Steam (PC) – 4:59 PM PDT
Wii U – August 9, 4:59 PM PDT

Capcom also informed players that DuckTales will be on sale at 75% off on most platforms, as reflected by our Xbox Sale Roundup. So if you're intrigued by the classic adventures of Scrooge McDuck, you should think about picking it up.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
