Xbox Are Offering a Lucky Gears Fan a Chance to Meet the Developers

If you are a Gears of War series superfan and an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, there's even more incentive than ever to tackle the Xbox Game Pass Quests this month. By completing one of the quests, you can win a console, meet the devs and get an amount of cookies that has not yet been defined, but that we would hope is significant.

The winner gets this icy Xbox One X as well as a trip to Vancouver. The winner gets this icy Xbox One X as well as a trip to Vancouver.

According to Xbox Wire, the headline prize is a trip to Vancouver, BC to visit The Coalition and spend time with the Gears 5 team, including studio lead Rod Ferguson. The winner will also get hands-on time with Gears 5 during the visit.

As if that wasn't enough, the winner will also get the Xbox One X Gears 5 Bundle we picked up last week, which has a new icy version of the classic Gears Crimson Omen on the top of the box. The Bundle also comes with the Kait Diaz Limited Edition controller. And just to perpetuate that old image of the gamer surrounded by empty packets of chips and cookies, Xbox are throwing in a worryingly undefined about of Rockstar energy drinks and Chips Ahoy cookies. Oh, and a Gears-themed personal drone, otherwise only available physical collector's editions at participating retailers like GameStop.

So, how does one win this impressive prize? Unfortunately it's only open to US participants, but if players can pass over that particular geographical hurdle they simply need to complete the current Gears-themed Xbox Game Pass Quest between now and the end of September 2nd. The only requirement for completing that quest is to unlock a single achievement in a Gears series title, which should be simple given that the entire Gears catalogue is currently in the list of Xbox Game Pass games on console. Unlocking and achievement and, crucially, returning to the Quest and "completing" it with the click of a button will put players into the sweepstakes automatically. Even if players don't win the grand prize, completing the quest will earn them Microsoft Rewards points, which they can build up to purchase free months of Game Pass or Gold, or use towards other regular sweepstake entries for consoles and accessories. Players can access Xbox Game Pass Quests through the Xbox Game Pass app or Microsoft Rewards app on console, the Xbox Game Pass app on mobile, via their Rewards hub on Xbox's official site or via the Rewards section of the Bing browser.

If you want more general information about how Xbox Game Pass Quests work and how you can use them to earn Microsoft Rewards points, make sure to check out our Xbox Game Pass quests guide. We'll be back soon with a round-up of all of the latest Quests and the most efficient ways to complete them.

Gears 5 releases on September 6th, straight into Xbox Game Pass on Xbox One and Xbox Games Pass for PC.

We've got the full list of Gears 5 achievements - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
