Dave Bautista is Coming to Gears 5

In a world of increasing Hollyworld cameos in video games, another movie star is set to enter the world of gaming. Fans of the Gears of War series have long been crying out for Dave Bautista to be a part of the franchise — namely as the actor that could play Marcus Fenix in a Gears of War movie. Yesterday, in a tweet, Bautista confirmed that he would be a playable character in Gears 5.

In an interview with Xbox Wire, the Gears of War series director Rod Fergusson directed Bautista's performance for the game, which included over 700 recorded lines of dialogue. Fergusson said:

“Adding Batista to Gears 5, we started with the fantasy of ‘Batista as Marcus,’ putting Batista into Marcus’ armor and starting with Marcus’ script. Then we added elements of “The Animal” Batista into his voice performance and onto his look by adding his signature Hollywood shades to his character. Batista was great in the booth, and I can’t wait for Gears and Batista fans alike to stomp some Swarm as The Animal.”
To unlock Batista, you will need to log on and play Gears 5 between Septemeber 15th through to October 28th. This includes both Gears 5 on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC.
