Xbox Gameplay Chart: Gears 5 Makes it into the Top 3, Borderlands Manages Sixth Place

By Sean Carey, 1 month ago
With the full release of Gears 5 and its addition to the ever-growing Xbox Game Pass catalogue, it's no surprise to see the latest instalment into the series still climbing the ranks in our Xbox Gameplay Chart. Despite the game launching with several issues that affected connectivity, progression tracking and the Gears 5 achievement list, the title has managed to knock the leviathan that is Minecraft down to third place.

Here is the top 40 Xbox Gameplay Chart for the week ending 15 September 2019.

The top ten of the chart remains somewhat similar week on week with some of the top ten trading places. Last week saw Gears 5 enter the fray in fourth place and the game continues to fight its way to the top. Another new entry this week is, of course, Borderlands 3 which has muscled its way in at sixth place, pushing Forza Horizon 4 out of the top ten. The past couple of weeks have brought some much-needed variation to the top of the table. Rainbow Six Siege has gained a place back up to fourth, presumably down to the latest update to the game Operation Ember Rise, which added two new operators to the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 and GearsPOP! have made slight gains around the middle of the table. The Red Dead Online update, Frontier Pursuits is probably the reason for Red Dead Redemption 2 jumping four places from 17th to the 13th position. GearsPOP! has risen from 22nd to 19th place, and it will be interesting to see with the latest update fixing GearsPOP!'s Xbox Live login issue if the game will continue to rise next week.

Sea of Thieves has made a significant 11 place leap from 33rd to the 22nd position. The latest Smuggler's Fortune update went live last week which added Pets to the game is probably why we've seen the increase in players.

Finally, Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Star Wars Battlefront II are both languishing at the bottom of the chart and look as if they could drop out of the top 40. Meanwhile, Warframe re-enters the chart in 40th place presumably down to The Saint of Altra update that dropped at the end of last month.
