Apex Legends Season 3: Meltdown Will Introduce Crypto and Reset Ranked Mode

By Sam Quirke, 1 month ago
While you only need to worry about the original eight Legends for the Apex Legends Achievements list — unless Respawn suddenly start adding more in title updates — those of you still invested in EA's foray into the Battle Royale industry might want to check out a new Legend from October 1st. Season Three will finally add the heavily hinted Legend called Crypto, along with a new weapon, a new Battle Pass and a soft reset for the Ranked League. Crypto's intense back story is revealed in the latest Story from the Outlands below.

Season 3: Meltdown also brings a new Battle Pass with another 100 items to earn including Legendary Skins and Apex Packs. Season 3 also adds a Charge Rifle. Further details on Season Three are thin on the ground but we should hear more in the coming weeks.

At the same time, Ranked League is going to get its second Series from October 1st too, including a soft reset bringing all players down 1.5 tiers. In order to add more granularity to the points structure, the whole system will be multiplied by 100. Assists are being added to the kill count score, and Apex Predator tier players will now be able to see their international standing, allowing the game's best players to duke it out at the very top.

Cosmetic rewards for ranking are coming with Series 2 as well, with cosmetic rewards being handed out per rank for players' standing in Series 1. Gold tier players and above will get an exclusive gun charm, while Diamond and Apex Predator tier combatants will get a custom dive trail. Ranked mode has been tweaked a few times during Series 1, and further balances will be implemented for Series 2.
