Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe Faces Layoffs — Xbox's Aaron Greenberg Offers Jobs

By Sean Carey, 5 days ago
Sony has reportedly laid off "dozens" of employees from Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe (SIEE) in London, according to Video Games Chronicle (VGC). The layoffs were announced to employees at the same time that Sony released new information about their next console, the PlayStation 5. In a now-deleted tweet, one affected employee said, "I hate that this is going to be drowned by the PS5 announcement.”

VGC was told that the North American Division, Sony Interactive Entertainment America (SIEA), has grown in influence in the past year and is moving towards centralising some of the different regional branches. SIEA is restructuring several areas, including marketing and PR.

However, Aaron Greenberg, the general manager of Xbox Games Marketing, took to Twitter and offered his condolences to those who had lost their jobs at Sony. He also pointed out that Xbox was hiring with several positions being available in Seattle, for those willing to relocate:

Hey everyone! I'm Sean. I have been writing gaming content for various outlets over the past few years while studying a degree in Journalism. I grew up on everything PlayStation — mainly Metal Gear Solid, with a brief foray into the world of Xbox. Nowadays, you'll find me mainly playing multiplayer PC games, but with the recent addition of the Xbox Game Pass for PC, I'm looking forward to improving my TA Score.
