PUBG Season 5 Adds Throwable Weapons and Items

By Sean Carey,
The fifth season for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is almost here and with it brings a new game update that makes a bunch of new changes to the battle royale.

In the Update 5.1 patch notes, the most notable change coming is throwable melee weapons. This means you can now kill another player with a frying pan — providing you're close enough. The Machete, Crowbar and sickle can also be lobbed at unsuspecting enemies. Melee weapons also stack in your inventory, allowing you to carry more than one.

Items can also be thrown thanks to the new update. Teammates can request a healing item or ammo, which brings up a prompt that allows you to chuck the requested items to them. The maximum throwing distance for items is set at 15 meters.

Miramar has had a refresh which adds a race track and some item balancing. Vending machines are also being added to Miramar and Camp Jackal which players can loot for energy drinks and painkillers.

Update 5.1 comes to consoles on October 29. You can read the full list of patch notes here.
