Okami Director Hideki Kamiya Wants to See a Sequel

By Heidi Nicholas,
Action-adventure game Okami HD first came out on the PS2 13 years ago, but Director Hideki Kamiya isn't finished with it yet. He took to Twitter in a video with Ikumi Nakamura, another member of Okami's original team, to say just how much he believes it to be happening — and to tag Capcom.

"Okami is going to be back...Really", he says, adding "Let's do it, Capcom". Nakamura also shared the video, adding in another tweet: "I want to see simply great games and games that gamers want to play be developed. I don’t understand budgets and politics... I just want to continue to be a creator that can say that great things are great. #Okami is one of those that have the power to overcome all of that."

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!

I played Okami this year, what a fun game it is. Would love to see a console sequel.

I know they had one on the Nintendo DS, shame that it wasn't made for any other platforms.

I played this back on the ps2 when it came out, and it quickly became one of my top 10 games of all time. I thought it was one of a kind and a masterpiece .

If you haven’t played it, I really recommend it since it never found a large audience

I've never played this despite owning the Wii version to play on my Wii U, and the PS3 version. I really ought to correct that at some point.

I only know of this game because of Rob Pearson from Playstation Access. Seen him talk about it in quite a few different videos and seems really cool.

Please, please give us a sequel. Fantastic game. I’ve yet to replay it on Xbox bc of broken achievements, but that aside, Okami II, please!!!

Just don't tell Hideki Kamiya on Twitter you agree with him, or he'll block you. Well he'll pretty much block you for anything, he seems incredibly grumpy.

Still need the play this game myself, I played a lot of it on the PS2 when it came out, and it was great, but I never finished it, don't remember why. I've had the PS3 and Xbox One versions for a while now, need to get to it.

    Hmm, it has broken achievements?

"This game is known to be buggy; achievement progress may not track, and/or achievements might not unlock at all."

Oh damn, it's one of those games...

Well sounds like you can save before an achievement is supposed to unlock, and if it doesn't, just reload your save and retry til it does, sounds annoying but still doable.

It's pretty much just his thing now. There's a good video here that talks about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLGGeSLCu9o&t

Frankly, I think it's hilarious. It's just the right amount of silly.
I work on achievements. Life sanity tip: don't work on achievements.

What I did was recording a video of the blockhead combination in slow motion with my smartphone. This way you can play it back and don’t have to remember the quick pattern. I hope this helps.

One of the best Zelda-like ever made !
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before
