SEGA has today announced the arrival of London 2012™ - The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games, the inevitable Olympic Games tie-in, and yes that really is the full title.

Players will be able to compete in over 30 Olympic events; SEGA has not announced any details about these, but they are promising "more gameplay variety than ever before". Competition for those gold medals will become fiercer with the inclusion of online leaderboards.

Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA Europe and SEGA of America Gary Knight said:

The London 2012 Olympic Games is sure to be a once in a lifetime experience for many people. The official video game will give people all over the world the chance to participate in the greatest sporting event on earth from their homes, even if they are thousands of miles away!
London 2012™ - The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games is unsurprisingly due to be released in 2012.
