Playground Games Appear To Be Ramping Up Recruitment For Another Forza Horizon

By Heidi Nicholas,
The ranks at Playground Games have been swelling as the studio recruit in droves, both for their AAA RPG project, and for what looks like another Forza Horizon. Forza Horizon 4 released in October of last year, and all signs seem to point to its successor, Forza Horizon 5.

Forza Horizon 4 Achievements

The Playground Games official Twitter has been advertising their job oppurtunities, and a look at their site shows that they're recruiting in full force for their Forza Horizon team. They've currently got 25 places available within their Horizon team; with everything from Senior Game Designer to Senior Vehicle Artist. They're recruiting for a Level Designer, a Lead Vehicle Artist, and a Lead Character Artist: and all for their Forza Horizon team. They've recently hired Nathan Buchanan, a former Rockstar Games employee, as an Associate Producer for the Forza Horizon team.

And that's not all. They also seem to have ramped up the intensity for their AAA RPG project too, and are recruiting massively. Nick Duncombe is the Head of Recruitment for Playground Games, and his Twitter page shows that recently, they've hired a Game Designer, a Technical Artist, a Technical Designer, and an Audio Designer for their RPG project. And yet, their site shows they've still got 40 positions open for an "entirely new AAA open world action/RPG project". This would suggest a project of enormous size, and it's widely rumoured to be Fable 4. It's hard to guess at what stage this AAA project is at, as Playground Games are still hiring for a Principal World Designer and Senior Environment Artist, along with a Dialogue Supervisor and a Combat Designer.

It's not clear yet whether we can expect to see Fable 4 or Forza Horizon 5, or what the release date for these projects are. Either way, it looks as though we can expect to see big things from Playground Games at some point in the future.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!

Doubt we'll see FH5 any time soon. I'd imagine it's still 3 years at least away.

I'm still sticking with my prediction that FM8 will release with Scarlett.

I was a bit disappointed by Forza Horizon 4, hope the next one will be better.

Guys, there's probably a better URL title for this article. One that doesn't say "release date" in it.

Think it's time to let the Fable series rest in peace. Good time to launch a new IP with the next generation of hardware.
Rest in peace Ryan Hayward, a fellow gamer taken too soon.

The Ip been dormant for a long time (not counting canceled games / lame spin off). Just imagine a Fable IV inspired by recent games like The Witcher 3 and Outer Worlds. Recipe for success if done right.

Also when the servers come back online for 2 I will be a happy man! Been down for like 2 or 3 weeks now!!

The original Horizon was the best of the lot. The others are good games but the original was new and fresh.

It MUST. forza saturation already kicked in and besides of the visuals and nice car control, FH4 just delievered meeeeeeh content. And i dont wanna talk about FM7. I play forza since part 1 and the last games... i dont know... eyecandy but lame. It is good that they take a break and hopefully come back with their high standards

I’ve had enough of this series and I barely played 4. Hope it’s a couple of years away.

Couldnt be more excited. Love all Forza games. Looking forward to Motorsport 8 as well

Don't mind another Forza Motorsport, but please let the "Underdog" achievement die and replace it something far less luck/boosting based. It's the only achievement I have remaining in Forza 6, and will likely be the only one left in Forza 7.

I can't imagine MS T10/PG releasing anything more for current gen tbh.

FH4 and the Lego content was absolute crap. I won't be buying the deluxe edition again.

Meh. 8 will be out with Scarlett so probably already mostly done and getting testing and final touches shortly but 4 hasn't pulled me in so I can wait the couple years before this comes out

Even though it's already over a year old I'm still having a blast with Forza Horizon 4 doing the championships each week and I honestly can't wait till we get our hands on the new consoles and Forza Horizon 5

Same here. I'm a bit surprised at all the negativity. Although everyone who has complained in this thread must be literally everyone who doesn't enjoy it, judging by the 4.6/5 average rating.

While I agree that the campaign/career was quite disappointing compared to 1 and 2 (haven't played 3,) I keep coming back for the seasonal stuff. It's just good fun.

Regarding release dates, I'm almost certain we'll get FM8 next year with the new console, and Horizon 5 a year later. Nothing else makes much sense.

In 3 years they could accomplish an FM/FH mash-up. A seasonal based story where you drive/race open world (FH5) between closed track championships (FM8) around the countryside. I could see an Eastern European setting driving between new circuits in Budapest, Istanbul, Sochi, and Baku City, with a flight to Melbourne and Singapore thrown in for good measure.
