Apex Legends Gets a Limited Time Duos Mode

By Sean Carey,
Apex Legends is getting a limited-time Duos mode next week, shaking up the usual three-person squad format the battle royale is known for. The new Duos mode will start on November 5 as revealed by the official Apex Legends' Twitter account.

It's unclear just how long the Duos mode will run for as the tweet doesn't mention an end date. A limited-time Solo mode was added to Apex Legends back in August in Apex Legends' Season Two, and that ran for just two weeks. It was considered a hit with many of the Apex community asking for the game mode to be a permanent fixture in the game. Duos will likely run for the same amount of time as the solos event did if the Solos mode event is anything to go by.

It was revealed yesterday in an EA investor call that EA would be relying heavily on Apex Legends by not putting out a new Battlefield title next year. Instead, the publisher will be focusing its efforts on Apex and using the live service game to fill the revenue gap by delaying the next Battlefield title. Apex's third season saw a higher number of weekly average players compared to that of season two, with EA describing the game as a "major long-term franchise". The game also hit 70 million players worldwide earlier this week.
