Dead Cells Corrupted Update Coming to Xbox One Soon

By Sean Carey,
A new update brings a total of 83 changes to Dead Cells, including a new optional mini-challenge biome, meta upgrade, a unique rune and three new tactical mutations. The fifteenth update for the roguelike has just been released on Steam and will be making its way to consoles in "a couple of weeks" according to Motion Twin. The update has also not rolled out on the Windows version of Dead Cells yet.

This update has been described as an "overall balance of the biomes and the paths between them." Motion Twin has added a new biome called The Corrupted Confinement which mirrors Prison Depths. This can be accessed via the Toxic Sewers and leads to either the Ancient Sewers of the Ramparts. The Corrupted Confinement biome is very short compared to others and also has a cursed chest at the beginning. Prison Depths has also been updated to fall in line with the new biome.

The new meta upgrade for beating the game's final boss — The Hand of the King — replaces the random starting gear. Now players will have a choice between four sets of five items (Melee weapon, Ranged weapon, Shield and two Skills) thanks to new "Recycling Tubes."

The new Rune is called Explorer Instinct; this reveals points of interest on the map once you've explored most of the level. This should help players in the quest for more exciting items and stop them from backtracking and finding nothing.

For the three Tactical Mutations, we will be getting Crow's Foot which allows you to drop caltrops behind you when you roll, slowing and damaging enemies, Tactical Retreat which slows down all enemies close by if a perfect dodge is performed and Networking which makes all enemies with projectiles stuck in them share damage.

There's a massive list of various balance changes and quality of life improvements for Dead Cells which can be found here.

Dead Cells is currently available on both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC. The roguelike-metroidvania narrowly missed out on our best games for Game Pass list with a community rating of 4.2.

We don't have an exact date for when the update will come to Xbox platforms, but as soon as it does, we will let you know.
