Overwatch: Mercy’s Recall Challenge Nets Players a New Mercy Skin

By Heidi Nicholas,
Mercy's Recall Challenge has kicked off. Overwatch players have until December 2nd to participate. Playing gives players a chance to win several Mercy-themed prizes, whilst watching Twitch streamers unlocks further Mercy-themed cosmetics.

Blizzard Entertainment recently revealed a 24 page short story about Mercy's backstory. Titled Valkyrie, it's about Mercy's attempts to bury herself in aid work in Egypt to forget everything that had happened with Overwatch. She goes by the name Dr. Angela Ziegler instead of Mercy, looking for a chance to put that persona behind her. She realises she can't escape Overwatch forever, and wrestles with whether she should return. Fans were quick to pick up on the tease of a new skin, shown in the story as the Dr. Ziegler Mercy skin. The skin featured Mercy in her doctor's clothes, but still wearing her armoured boots; a little of her Overwatch past seeping into her doctor persona. Overwatch players wondered what the tease meant; whether the Dr. Ziegler Mercy skin would come to the game. Now, that skin can be won as part of Mercy's Recall Challenge.

The Overwatch site says that wins in Quick Play, Competitive Play, and Arcade will earn players a limited-time icon, two sprays, and the Legendary Dr. Ziegler Mercy Skin. Winning three games will get players the limited-time Dr. Ziegler Player Icon. Winning six games unlocks the Lab Coat and Evaluation Sprays. Winning nine games will reward players with the Legendary Dr. Ziegler Mercy Skin. The other six Mercy-themed cosmetics can be unlocked through watching participating Twitch streamers. Watching for two hours earns the On the Clock spray. Watching four hours gets the Healing Touch and Hannan Spray. Watching for six hours gets the Suit Fitting, Late Night, and Ascent sprays.

The Legendary Dr. Ziegler Mercy skin isn't the only new look Mercy will be getting. Overwatch 2 is on the way, and the heroes will all be getting a new and more detailed look. Head here to see what Mercy's new look will be in Overwatch 2.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
