New Obsidian Game: Grounded, Releasing in Early Access in the Spring

By Heidi Nicholas,
A new Obsidian IP is Grounded, a survival game with a real "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" vibe, where players must explore and survive in a world where they're the size of ants. It's coming to Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC, and is releasing in Game Preview in Spring 2020 – with a special Insider beta happening some time before.

Obsidian say they've been thinking about a survival game for a long time, and thought about what it would be like to make a survival game where the players are shrunk to the size of ants. The trailer emphasises the importance of exploring, crafting and surviving. The player character is seen chopping down what look like blades of grass to make a shelter; and it looks as though it'll have multiplayer, as player characters are seen teaming up to make a fort and going together on the offensive against an ants nest. You can hunt bugs, and craft armour, bows and arrows, to help you survive in a tiny world that's way too big.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
