There Won't Be Any Resident Evil 3 News at the Game Awards By Heidi Nicholas, 05 Dec 2019 CommentsThe recent leak of what looked like cover art for a Resident Evil 3 remake had fans hoping we'd be getting some sort of announcement on that front, but unfortunately, it looks like that's not going to be the case any time soon (thanks, DualShockers). Geoff Keighley, host and producer of the annual Game Awards show, took part in an AMA (ask me anything) on Reddit where he addressed the rumours that we'll get some sort of Resident Evil 3 Remake news at this year's show. In the AMA, one question put to Keighley was about whether there had been any leaks, like those apparently for Resident Evil 3, which had concerned him. Keighley replies to this pretty emphatically that "There are no plans (never were) to do anything with Resident Evil 3 at the show. A lot of these "leaks" are completely wrong. Nothing about our show has leaked as of this writing." This is a bit of a dampener to the hopes that we'd be seeing some sort of announcement for the remake. As of yet, there hasn't been any official confirmation from Capcom regarding a remake for Resident Evil 3. It would make sense for them to go in this direction, however, given the huge success of the Resident Evil 2 remake. It is unclear which leaks exactly Keighley is referring to; hopefully he isn't implying that there'll be no remake of Resident Evil 3 at all. It seems that the only Resident Evil content we can be sure of at the moment is Project Resistance; Capcom's upcoming 4v1 multiplayer. Yet the announcement of this particular title was met with a somewhat lukewarm response, as fans seemed to have been hoping more for a remake similar to that of Resident Evil 2. It does seem that all sense would point towards a move in this direction; hopefully the fan response, coupled with the huge popularity of Resident Evil 2, will lead to an actual remake announcement at some point in the future. We'll keep you posted.Xbox One Written by Heidi NicholasHey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then.
