A Rebranded Resident Evil 2 "R.P.D." Demo Appears on the Microsoft Store

RESIDENT EVIL 2 R.P.D. Demo

We've just picked up a brand new "R.P.D." demo listing for Resident Evil 2, silently appearing on the Xbox Store in the last few minutes. It seems to be a distinct product from the 1-Shot Demo that also stealthily appeared back in January. This might just be a rebranding of that same demo, or it might be something else entirely. Update: We've got it running in the office, and it appears to be the same sequence as shown in the 1-Shot demo this year. As far as we can tell, Capcom has simply taken the time limit off – we've left poor Leon idling in the lobby for forty minutes.

RESIDENT EVIL 2 R.P.D. Demo

A deadly virus engulfs the residents of Raccoon City in September of 1998, plunging the city into chaos as flesh eating zombies roam the streets for survivors.

An unparalleled adrenaline rush, gripping storyline, and unimaginable horrors await you.

Witness the return of Resident Evil 2.

Even if it is the same demo, it makes sense to re-release this now without the time restrictions to entice players to play it ahead of Resident Evil 3 next year. It's probably not a coincidence that the demo is turning up right as Resident Evil 2 gets a big price cut in a new flash sale for The Game Awards.

We've got the full list of Resident Evil 2 achievements - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
