PUBG Corporation Teases a New Game Called Prologue – and It's Not a Battle Royale

By Sam Quirke,
There was a spectacular amount to process in the aftermath of The Game Awards last night, not least the reveal of the Xbox Series X console. In among all of the teases and reveals, PUBG Corporation quietly teased a new game called Prologue.

The new game is an original IP developers by Brendan Greene – the PlayerUnknown of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds – and a team of developers at the newly minted PlayerUnknown Productions studio. The teaser gives very little away – there's a storm, there's an unseen protagonist breathing heavily and acting agitated, and there's a dog barking. That's it.

Greene says that the studio was formed "with the goal of exploring, experimenting and creating new technologies" to deliver new gameplay experiences. There's one detail that we know for sure: Greene says that this is "a brand-new experience outside of the Battle Royale genre". So at least it's not another iteration of the world's most lucrative genre, even though we don't know what else it could be. There's also a hint that this isn't any kind of single-play experience: "Our aim with this game is to give players unique and memorable experiences, each and every time they play."

No platforms have been given for Prologue, and there's no release date either. We'll let you know when we hear more about this curious new project.
