The Elder Scrolls Online Teases Skyrim as the Next Big Expansion

By Sam Quirke,
Bethesda Softworks and Zenimax Online Studios released a new trailer for The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited during The Game Awards last night. The focus was on a cinematic for the last act of the Elsweyr expansion's Season of the Dragon, but there was a surprise in the tail – the fantasy MMO is heading north into Skyrim in 2020.

The trailer teases a traditionally armoured and horn-helmed Nord standing on a snowy clifftop, looking out at the green glow that marks the explosive finale of the Season of the Dragon. Nothing else was revealed except that players will be invited to explore "the Dark Heart of Skyrim" next year. A full global reveal event is planned for January 16th 2020 at 2pm PST (5PM EST) on Bethesda's Twitch channel.

The Skyrim expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online will launch at some point in 2020.
