Red Dead Online's Moonshiners Update and Outlaw Pass No. 2 are Both Live Now By Heidi Nicholas, 13 Dec 2019 CommentsRockstar may not have had a new announcement at last night's Game Awards, but they seem determined to make sure their current games are still getting some attention. Just yesterday, the first Heist that GTA Online has had in two years kicked off, and today, Rockstar announce a big update for their other massive franchise. Moonshiners is the latest Frontier Pursuit to come to Red Dead Online, and focuses on a life of avoiding the law whilst trying to become the West's best bootlegger. But Rockstar weren't done there; they also announced the game's second Outlaw Pass, which is also out today. Red Dead Online had a bit of a wobbly reception at first, but it was greatly improved by the addition of Frontier Pursuits three months ago; a feature which widely extended the gameplay available by letting players choose the path of either Bounty Hunter, Collector, or Trader. Moonshiners is the latest role to be made available, and is decidedly less legal. Red Dead 2 players will remember the Stranger missions where you'd encounter two moonshiners out and about in the wilderness, who were on a mission to improve their product and always needed hardened killer Arthur Morgan to go flower-picking for them. Whilst they didn't exactly seem the best advertisement for the moonshiner life, there's no doubt that this Moonshiners update to Red Dead Online has a lot going for it. You can get your own property, choosing one of five Moonshining Shacks. The property will appear to be an innocent-looking homestead which serves as a front for the illegal business going on in the basement below. As you learn more about the business, and start unlocking new techniques and recipies to improve your product, you'll also have to keep an eye on competitors and the law. But if you do well, you'll get the chance to open up your own bar to sell the product, with space for a band and dancefloor. And you'll have help: once you've reached Rank 5 in the Trader mission, or else completed a sell mission, Cripps will take you to meet Maggie Fike at Emerald Ranch. Maggie is a veteran bootlegger who knows everyone in the moonshiner business, and everything about it. She'll be a big deal as whilst part of the Moonshiner role is looking after your budding business, the other side of it is taking part in solo or co-op story missions with Maggie to get revenge on her enemies. She'll also be the one maintaining the homestead front upstairs whilst the distillation takes place below. The Moonshiner Role will also introduce new weapons, like the Flammable Moonshine Jug, new apparel, accessories, horse breeds, equipment upgrades, and a new ornamental design for the Sawed-Off Shotgun. Rockstar also launched the second Outlaw Pass today. Players had been waiting on an update on this for a while. Another frequent addition to Red Dead Online was the Legendary Bounties, and players had been expecting to hear something about the Outlaw Pass once all ten Bounties were out. Yet Rockstar brought back all ten Bounties over two weeks ago, with no news on the second Outlaw Pass. That's changed today; Outlaw Pass 2 is out now, and has free rewards to unlock across 100 ranks, along with new clothing items, horse masks, gun wraps, and up to 40 gold bars. There's also camp upgrades, one of which will let you get your own camp dog.The Outlaw Pass no. 2 is active until 10th of March, 2020. As for Rockstar's other massive franchise; the Diamond Casino Heist is out now for GTA Online.Check out our Best Xbox One First-Person Shooters Available in 2019 article for a compilation of other great games in this genre.Game UpdateXbox One View comments Written by Heidi NicholasHey, I'm Heidi!
