Vacant and Shipment Maps Go Live in Modern Warfare Tomorrow

By Heidi Nicholas,
Activision say that the two multiplayer maps, new 2v2 gunfight maps, new multiplayer modes, and "much more" will go live for free in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tomorrow, 18th December.

There'll be the two classic multiplayer maps, Vacant and Shipment. Shipment will be available for 6v6, as well as being a 2v2 gunfight map. The Docks 2v2 gunfight map will get a seasonal re-skin, and as of tomorrow will be Over Winter. There'll also be new Spec Ops experiences which progress the Modern Warfare experience, and new limited time modes. Activision say there'll be another blog post going through the new content in more detail tomorrow. Activision also mention a free gift pack for tomorrow, December 18th, at 10am PST, which can be found in the "Just For You" store section. They also remind players to expect a Double Weapon XP weekend.

It seems Activision are determined to fulfill their promise that Modern Warfare will have the biggest free content drop in COD history. The game had a bit of a rocky start, and took some time to iron out its various issues, but its popularity is clear; it's the only game to consistently keep Fortnite out of the top spot of our Gameplay Chart for a long time; it's been at no. 1 for over a month now. The Co-Design Director of Multiplayer, Joe Cecot, has also confirmed that 3v3 and 1v1 gunfight modes will be coming to the game at some point.

We'll keep you posted with Modern Warfare updates.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
