Forza Motorsport 8 Will Be "Vastly Different", More News in 2020

By Heidi Nicholas,
Turn 10's next Forza experience, presumably titled Forza Motorsport 8, is already playable, and we'll be hearing more about it next year. Turn 10's Creative Director discussed details about the new game in a recent stream, saying it's "vastly different", and an amazing experience. Given that the game is apparently "already playable" and something we will hear about next year, we have to assume that the game is running on an Xbox Series X.

Creative Director Chris Esaki said, around the 57:30 mark (thanks, GamesRadar) that the team had their first "studio-wide playtest" for the new experience: "it's been this hard road to get to where we are today, and the studio got a first chance at actually playing this new experience all day long and had a great time with it," he said, before going on to share some details. "I'm just going to rattle off a bunch of features, because in reality they don't really matter in the larger scheme of things," he said. "The overall product and where we're going with it is so vastly different and an amazing experience that these things are just so low-level...but the people out there, I think will be interested in hearing some of those things". He went on to say that the game has a new tyre pressure model, a new way that heat interacts with the tyre pressure, dynamic track temperatures, and a new atmospheric pressure system, where things such as air density would affect air dynamics and power, as well as the tyre pressure. He also mentioned that the game would have an entirely new suspension system with new suspension modelling. "These are just a ton of things under the hood here...and I'm missing about 15 other things that are all just under the hood", he added.

The question had been about highlights of 2019. "We actually got to play the new game," said Esaki, adding that for him "and for the studio," that was "the most memorable moment". He also adds that we'll be hearing more next year. Forza has long been an avenue through which Xbox have shown off their latest technologies and the graphical prowess of their machines, so we're placing our bets on the theory that Forza Motorsport 8 is coming to Xbox Series X at launch. Here's every confirmed Series X game so far.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
